Ballet ClassesChildren can attend our RAD Ballet classes from two years of age. We start with a simple, imaginative lesson that gradually builds a basic classical technique. Once your child is confident they can move on to the Pre-Primary and Primary levels, and are invited to take part in a Presentation Class in front of an RAD examiner when they are ready. At this stage they are ready to embark upon the Vocational Grades and enjoy the variety of classical ballet, character dance and free movement. Presentation Classes and Grade Examinations are available according to ability and your child's preference.Tap and Modern ClassesTap and Modern are taught during each lesson and follow the syllabus of the ISTD with children attending from approximately 3 years of age. Classes start with basic tap and modern technique and develop to incorporate short routines. Examinations are offered to those who reach the required level and enjoy working towards an independent assessment.PointeThe Pointe classes take place on alternate weeks and are by invitation only. Children should be at least eleven years of age and attending at least one ballet class each week. Simple exercises are taught at the barre and as technique and strength develop, the students move into the centre. The class culminates in the teaching of a solo from Classical Repertoire.Gymnastic / Sports AerobicsThis exciting class takes place on Saturday mornings. Children learn how to warm up their muscles up safely and are then taken through a series of aerobic, strengthening and flexibility exercises, encouraging an excellent level of all round fitness. The children learn a routine to fast paced contemporary music, incorporating many leaps, jumps, spins and complex dance movements, which they perform at the end of the term. |
